Second Chance Month: Robin’s Story.

4月18日 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

April has been proclaimed by the President as Second Chance Month, a time to “recommit to helping people forge the new beginnings they have earned and building a safer and more just society.”

In 1996, Robin Ledbetter, 14岁时, was convicted of a serious felony and sentenced as an adult to 50 years without the possibility of parole. At the time, she was the youngest female ever given this severe penalty in Connecticut. After serving 25 years in the state’s correctional facility, Robin was released due to the support of a dedicated legal team. While in prison, she earned an Associate Degree, 一个中央社, and became a mentor to others in a progressive program initiated by the state governor. Robin is a published, prize-winning author and has spoken about her experience at Yale University.

Introducing Robin, will be Harriet Hendel, a local advocate and mentor for those who have been wrongfully incarcerated. She served as board member of the Innocence Project in Florida for six years and currently hosts the podcast “Pursuing Justice.”

Camden County College students who register to attend will receive up to a $10 voucher toward a lunch OR a boxed lunch on that day.
